Blink Code Decoder

Overhead Door (OHD) Blink Codes

LED flash patterns, likely causes, and fixes for every Overhead Door (OHD) platform.

Odyssey 1000

Commercial operator (models OHD 1000, Odyssey series). Green board with single diagnostic LED.

Where to look: Single red LED located near the upper-left of the main control board, next to the fuse. The green LED next to it is the power indicator — use the RED one for diagnostics.

1 blink

Safety Device Open Circuit

An external safety device (photo eye, edge) has an open circuit.

1. Check all safety device wiring. 2. Verify jumpers are in place if no safety devices are installed. 3. Test each device with a multimeter.

2 blinks

Safety Device Short Circuit

Safety device wiring is shorted.

1. Disconnect all safety devices. 2. Add back one at a time to find the short. 3. Repair or replace damaged device.

3 blinks

Control Circuit Fault

Open/Close/Stop control circuit has a fault. Wall station or external control is stuck or shorted.

1. Disconnect external controls. 2. If error clears, troubleshoot the control wiring. 3. Check for water damage to wall stations.

4 blinks

Motor Start Fault

Motor did not start or did not reach running speed. Capacitor failure, motor winding failure, or loose connection.

1. Check motor capacitor with a meter. 2. Check motor terminal connections. 3. Verify power supply voltage. 4. Spin motor by hand to check for seizing.

5 blinks

Motor Overload

Excessive motor current detected during travel.

1. Disconnect door and test operator unloaded. 2. Check springs, balance, and track. 3. Verify correct operator HP for door size.

6 blinks

Travel Not Set

Travel limits have not been programmed.

1. Enter programming mode. 2. Run door to full open — set limit. 3. Run door to full close — set limit.

7 blinks

Board EEPROM Error

The onboard memory has become corrupted. Power surge or component failure.

1. Try a factory reset. 2. If error persists, replace the control board.

RSX Standard Drive

Residential operator (RSX, Legacy 800 series). Compact unit with LED on the back panel.

Where to look: Single LED visible on the back panel of the unit when looking up from below. NOT the learn button LED on the side.

Solid On

Normal / Standby

No fault. Operator is ready and waiting for a command.

No action needed. This is normal operation.

Slow Flash (1/sec)

Safety Sensor Fault

Safety sensors are not connected, misaligned, or have a wiring issue.

1. Check sensor wiring. 2. Align sensors. 3. Verify sensor LEDs are lit.

Rapid Flash (4/sec)

Motor Thermal Protection

Motor has overheated and the thermal protector has tripped.

1. Wait 15-20 minutes for the motor to cool. 2. Check door balance. 3. Reduce cycle frequency.

Off (No Light)

No Power

No power reaching the control board. GFCI tripped, breaker off, or power cord unplugged.

1. Check outlet power. 2. Check/reset GFCI. 3. Inspect power cord. 4. Check internal fuse if applicable.

2-Pulse Repeating

Wall Button Stuck

The wall button or its wiring is continuously sending an open/close signal.

1. Disconnect wall button wires at the unit. 2. If stops, replace wall button or repair wiring.
